ALBANY, GA (WALB) - While Leesburg's Buster Posey is beginning his pro baseball career with the San Francisco Giants, the former Florida State Seminole is in the running for the most prestigious amateur award in the nation.

Buster Posey is one of 12 finalists for the AAU's James Sullivan Award.

The Sullivan Award is presented to the outstanding amateur athlete based on not only athletic accomplishments but also leadership, skills, character and sportsmanship.

Posey won every major award in college baseball last season while maintaining the highest grade point average.

Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and the men's freestyle relay team, North Carolina basketball star Tyler Hansbrough and Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford are among the finalist for the Sullivan award that will be presented on April 15th.

You can vote for Buster Posey or any of the finalists at the AAU's web page  aaunews.org.
