ALBANY, GA (WALB) - With the season opener a week and a half away, the South Georgia Wildcats have roster loaded with talent at the skill positions but in all honesty a little thin on the line of scrimmage.
The Wildcats solved that problem with the signing of offensive lineman Rico Ochoa.
Ochoa played with the Cats four years ago and has spent the last three seasons at Spokane where he has been an all AF2 player the last two years.
Ochoa even voted number three on the top ten list of all time AF2 offensive lineman.
Ochoa says he thought about giving up football when the AFL folded but he is ready to lead the Wildcats offensive line.
Rico Ochoa said "The role that I will be playing is simple. We just have to protect the quarterback.put the ball in the endzone. That is all it really ends up being."
The Wildcats open the season one week from Saturday at Florida.
The home opener is March 28th.
