REMERTON, GA (WALB) - The City of Remerton's plans to start receiving water from the City of Valdosta are experiencing a few delays.
The hold-ups arose when the city attorney had to negotiate for three easements. Remerton's Interim City Manager, Police Chief Mike Terrell, says there have been some extenuating circumstances, but nothing that will prohibit the project's success.
Improving Remerton's water is one of the city's top priorities.
"The city of Valdosta has done a lot of research, and has good quality water," says Chief Terrell. "We have an intrusion problem here in Remerton. Our well--the source--is not as good as what Valdosta water is. We're looping our lines so there's a continuous flow--that's the first part of the project. T hen, the second part will be actually hooking up to the city of Valdosta."
This joining of systems will solve Remerton's long-standing issues with water quality.
