ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Basketball has been a big hit on the campus of Albany Tech.

So much so that the school has decided to add a women's team this fall.

The Albany Tech men's program was started two years ago.

Since then, the school has had interest from prospective female athletes about a women's program at Albany Tech.

Albany Tech men's assistant Kenneth Williams will be the Lady Titans first head coach.

Williams understands the challenges of starting a college basketball program from scratch.

Fortunately for Williams, he has a good role model to follow in the program put together by Albany Tech men's coach Sylvester Patterson.

Kenneth Williams said. "Coach Patterson and the rest of his staff have really come a long way in just two years. Hopefully, we can follow their blueprint and continue their success.">

Coach Williams says tryouts for the Albany Tech women's basketball team will be held later this spring.
