One of the hardest things to do is to win a tournament coming through the loser's bracket.
That is something that the Lowndes High Vikettes learned at the state fast-pitch softball tournament in Columbus.
After dropping into the elimination bracket Thursday night, Lowndes girls one four games but needed to win one more to claim the AAAAA state title.
However after beating Fayette County 1-0 in the first title game, the Vikettes fell in the "if needed" game 7-2 to finish in second place.
In slow-pitch, Cook High lost to Appling County 6-1 and finished third in the AAA/AA/A tournament.
