Hot grease cause of duplex fire

October 30, 2002

Albany-- Hot grease sparked Tuesday's fire in an Albany duplex.

The power on the half of the Westwood Drive duplex where the fire started was turned off when the tenant had moved out.

When Water Gas and Light workers cut the power back on, a pan of grease left on the kitchen stove, which was switched on, caught fire. The vacant half of the duplex sustained severe fire damage.

Fire officials say no charges will be filed.
