LOWDNES COUNTY, GA (WALB) - State Troopers in Lowndes County say smoky conditions were the cause of a wreck that killed one and sent two others to the hospital. The collision happened at the intersection of Clyattville and Nonkan Roads at 1:15 PM Saturday afternoon.

An Oldsmobile crossed the center lane and hit a Chevy Tahoe head on, and then crashed into a ditch. The vehicle caught on fire with 36-year-old Emilio Sarabia trapped inside.

Sarabia was killed. Two other adults in the Tahoe were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There had been three controlled burns that day, and smoke was blown into the intersection at the time of the crash.
