
Milledgeville, GA (WALB) - For the Deerfield-Windsor boys basketball team a season that many thought would have ended much sooner finally ended Saturday night, in the state championship game.
Deerfield-Windsor fell to Mount Vernon 66-40.
The Knights had beaten Mount Vernon on December 20th in Albany, but this game was a different story.
For a second straight season Deerfield-Windsor finished in second place.
"We certainly have nothing to be ashamed about. they have a great basketball team. they played great tonight. they outplayed us. I tip my hat to them. we are certainly going to try to get back next year" said Deerfield-Windsor Head Coach Gordy Gruhl.
Deerfield-Windsor finished the season at 25-4.
