ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
After years of losing in the state championship game the Terrell Academy girls basketball team won the state title 42-39 over Fullington on Saturday.
In the 4th quarter Fullington's Ashlyn Reed hit a three to pull Fullington to within a point.
Marlee Locke hit two free throws with ten seconds left sealing the win that has eluded Terrell Academy for two decades.
"It was so nerve wracking. I went up there and did my job" said Locke.
"It feels so good. It fees like a dream" said Terrell Academy guard Joeanna Sams.
"We missed some crucial free throws at the end of the game. but I have got to hand it to Terrell. They played a great basketball game" said Fullington head coach Mike Cason.
"Me standing here and talking to you and telling you we are the state champions after three years of standing here and telling you how badly we hurt" said Terrell Academy head coach keith Jones.
The victory gives Terrell Academy its' first state championship in school history.Feedback
