ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Deerfield-Windsor Knights were in last year's state championship game, but not many expected the Knights to make it back this season.

Deerfield-Windsor had to replace three starters this season including guard Andre Young who headed to Clemson.

One year later the Knights are right back to where they left off after a 54-41 win over region rival Brookwood in the semifinals.

The Knights trailed for much of the game and didn't pull away until the 4th quarter.

"We played much better on the defensive end in the fourth quarter. Kept them out of the lane and made them shoot jump shoots. You do that against Brookwood, you have got a chance to be succesful" said Deerfield-Windsor head coach Gordy Gruhl.

"We have known all along depth is kind of a problem. we got tired we didn't execute at all" said Brookwood head coach Brad Piazza.

After losing 66-64 in the state championship last season the Knights are glad to have another chance at a title this season.

"It is great to win in the final four and get back to the state championship. We have been saying 66-64 since last year" said guard Michael Mathews.

Deerfield-Windsor will take on Mt. Vernon for the state championship Saturday night at 8:20 in Milledgeville.
