East Central Tech breaks ground

October 29, 2002

BEN HILL CO. - East Central Technical College is breaking ground on a major expansion.

They'll be beginning construction of a $14 million Telecommunications Center. They were the first school in Georgia to offer a telecommunications program back in 1988, now they are expanding to six different majors all under one roof.

"There was no public program available statewide," Van Waters, Executive V.P at East Central Tech, said. "We saw that need and viewed it as a good career path for our students to make a real good living support them and families. The center will have room for 378 students to study for careers like that of a wireless technician. The building is expected to open by the Fall Quarter in 2004.
