ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany State head coach Mike White says his team is already excited about the 2009 season.

So much that the Rams started spring practice a day earlier than scheduled.

Coach White says class schedules prompted the decision to move up the start of spring drills one day.

Spring practice is very important with the Rams learning the system of new   new offensive coordinator Steven Smith.

Former ASU quarterback Uyl Joyner was also on the field.

Joyner expected to be named quarterbacks coach for the Rams.

Coach White is confident his offensive coaches will have the offense ready to go by the first game of the season.

Mike White said.  "Spring is our first day to start working on some different things. Again it is all about teaching and coaching. Getting them to understand what is right."

The Rams will end spring drills this year with a spring game on March 28th at the Albany Municipal Coliseum.
