ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Schools moved beyond the classrooms and into the mall Saturday to showcase what students are doing.

Every Dougherty County school set up a display of some of the work their students have done so far this year.

Shoppers got to see everything from science projects to a variety of artwork  which teachers say are just as important as the core subjects.

"Studies have shown that the arts are important in enhancing students lives, and these programs give them an outlet so they are not stuck in the classroom the entire day," said Lamar Reese Fine Arts Coordinator, George Darrisaw.

The Dougherty County School System has held their mall mania event for several years.
