Churchgoers celebrate Scottish heritage

October 27, 2002

Albany- Sunday members of the Covenant Presbyterian Church celebrated their first "Kirkin' O' the Tartans" service. That translates into "Blessing of the family."

Members wore kilts and even plaid scarves to service. The service gave members with Scottish ancestry a chance to celebrate their heritage.

Each Scottish clan or family had their own distinctive pattern. Members say while many families wore plaids to church, they expect to have an even bigger turnout next year.
