ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Lee County High School students sang and danced as they celebrated Black History Month.
Students lifted their voices with gospel music and shared quotes from President Obama's speeches dealing with challenges, their generation, and conviction.
Captain Kenneth Bevel, who co-starred in "Fireproof," explained to the students you can't have a fear of failure.
Students who read some of the passages say it wasn't hard to find personal meaning in the ceremony.
"To me personally, the quote was talking about we who serve together and fight together, and that touched me personally with my dad being in the army," said student Obadiah Jimmerson. "So I was looking at it as not just that but as overall we just all need to come together so we can solve some of these problems."
The theme of this year's program was "the Audacity of Hope."
