Five arrested for prostitution

By Jim Wallace - bio | email

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Albany undercover officers arrested seven people last night in a citywide prostitution sting. Investigators say they probably would have arrested more had it not been so cold outside.

Six women and one cross-dressing man are charged with solicitation and prostitution.

Most were arrested in the West Highland, South Davis, South Harding, and South McKinley areas.

The operation was set up after complaints from people who live in the area, and another is planned soon.

"At this point we will put out undercover females in the prostitution roles, and go after the johns," said ADDU Interim Commander Capt. Andy Exum. "This doesn't end here."

One of the seven, 35-year-old Tammy Gibbs, was taken to the hospital after complaining of being sick. She took off from the hospital and a warrant for her arrest has now been issued.
