LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL (WALB) - The number one priority for the Atlanta Braves this winter has been putting together a reliable starting pitching rotation.

The Braves believe they have done that with the signing of Derek Lowe and Kenshin Kawakami and trading veteran righthander over the winter from the Chicago White Sox.

Manager Bobby Cox has been a fan of Vazquez since the righthander pitched six seasons with Montreal.

Vazquez is a reliable pitcher who has won ten or more games for nine straight years.

His baseball career started here in Albany when he won six games with the Polecats in 1995.

Javier says back then he could have only dreamed to have had a major league career that has lasted for 15 years.

Javier Vazquez said. "When you are playing at the level which is A ball, you really want to get to the big leagues and establish yourself. Then whatever happens. Never in my life would I be thinking that I would be still be playing in the big leagues."

The Braves traded four minor league players to Chicago for Javier Vazquez.
