Blazers survive scare

October 26, 2002

Valdosta, GA-Aaron Jenkins rushed for 151 yards and three touchdowns as the Valdosta State Blazers came from behind to defeat the West Alabama Tigers Saturday 43-31.

The Blazers (8-0, 6-0) trailed 24-7 at the half thanks to the Tigers duo of quarterback Brett Gilliland and wide receiver Kyle Henderson. Gilliland and Henderson hooked up for three touchdowns in the first two quarters to give the Tigers the lead at the break and stun the Blazer crowd.

Rather than panicking the Blazers regrouped and scored 29 points in the third quarter to take the lead for good.  Buster Faulkner connected with C.J. Lofton, Aaron Jenkins and Reggie Mosely in the third quarter for touchdowns.  Faulkner finished the day 23-30 for 290 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Henderson had an unbelievable day for the Tigers catching 15 passes for 319 yards and four touchdowns.

Valdosta State travels to North Alabama on November 2nd.
