ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  There was a happy ending to a dramatic situation Thursday.   Around 10:00AM, animal control officers and Albany firefighters were called to the intersection of South Harding Street and Mercer Avenue, where a poodle was stuck in a storm drain.

It took a few dog biscuits and some team work, but the small, scared dog was finally freed from the drain.

Officer David JonesAnimal Control told us, "Happens a lot with cats. We've been able to get a lot of cats out of the drainage ditches before, not a whole lot of dogs, but this just goes to show it can happen."

Animal Control officers say the plan now is to clean the dog up and hopefully reunite him with his owner. They want you to keep a close eye on all your pets, especially the small ones that can easily slip into small spaces and get trapped.
