Dallis Smith headed to VSU Hall of Fame

Westover fans know that Dallis Smith can coach basketball but they might not have known that back in his playing days at Valdosta State Smith made life miserable for opposing quarterbacks on the gridiron.

Saturday the Westover Head basketball coach will be inducted into the VSU hall of fame.

Smith was a 4 year starter for the Blazer football team from 1983 through 1986 and chalked up 180 career tackles. He owns the Gulf South Conference and Valdosta State career record for career interceptions with 21.

In 1986, Smith set the Blazer single season inteception record with 9.

"It is important to talk about the hard work and the dedication that I did and it kind of payed off and for them to get in touch with me and want me to come down and be inducted I thought it was real special."

Saturday's induction ceremony begins at noon on Saturday in Valdosta.
