Now that two suspects are in custody in the sniper case, forensic evidence will play a big role in prosecuting them. And it's the same technology and methods used by South Georgia law enforcement.

Captain Butch Windham has worked in forensics and crime scene investigation for 29 years. The Dougherty County Sheriff's investigator watched closely the last three weeks the search for the Washington D.C. Sniper.

Windham is a graduate of the FBI Academy, and says the case would have been handled the same in South Georgia. Windham says the sniper case will be detailed step by step for law enforcement across the nation to study.

Captain Windham said the science and technology of forensics continues to improve, helping law enforcement in criminal investigations.
