ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
The GISA state basketball tournament is just around the corner and the Deerfield Windsor boys have been eager to start the tourney ever since coming up two points short of a state title last season.
The Knights enter the state tournament with a top seed as region champs and will take on 4th seeded First Presbytirian Day Thursday.
Deerfield Windsor blew out FPD twice in the regular season but Head Coach Gordy Gruhl knows that come tournament time every team is improved. Coach says he's not concerned about his team looking ahead to the 2nd round.
"This is a team that has been through it a lot and we know at tournament time that we have to focus on the opponent that we're playing so I don't really worry about that too much I think if they beat us it will be because they out play us not because we're looking ahead" said Gruhl.
Deerfield Windsor and FPD tip off at 7:00 on Thursday at Stratford Academy in Macon.
