ALBANY, GA (WALB) - South Georgians looking to make a few extra dollars can look to their jewelry boxes. Cash for Gold Jewelry spent the weekend at the Albany Hilton Garden Inn ready to buy your old gold rings, watches and earrings.

Gold futures are now at the highest level they've been in the last seven months. And many South Georgians used the news to help them make ends meet during the tough economic times.

"The economy is down, and we have people who have lost their jobs. We've got people who will come in and sell a few things to pay their car or home insurance.

And it really is a big help, especially if it's just been sitting in the jewelry box gathering dust, and they don't even wear it," said appraiser, Donna Webb. Gold is now worth about $950 an ounce.
