ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Florida State will open their season one week from today.
The Seminoles do have younger brother Jack Posey.
Jack was a key contributor off the bench as a freshman at first and third base.
There was talk in the offseason of moving him to catcher but third base is where Jack will play his sophomore season.
Jack says he is willing to play wherever the team needs.
Instead of playing summer league ball after his freshman season, Jack Posey stayed in Tallahassee where he worked out and lost weight.
The Seminoles believe the a fitter Jack Posey will help Florida State in their goal to get back to Omaha.
Jack Posey said. "Definitely in speed and conditioning like I am much more able to stay up. Be on top of things while last year I might have worn down a little bit."
Head coach Mike Martin said "When you return an All-American in Stuart Tapley, Jack is going to have to play his way into a role. Certainly, we do feel like he is capable of contributing big this year."
Florida State opens the 2009 baseball season February 20th against Hofstra.
