East Albany plant announces 20 layoffs

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - More south Georgians lost their jobs Thursday.

Twenty workers at an east Albany packaging plant were laid off.

The manager at the Georgia-Pacific plant says the layoffs were a result of ongoing market conditions.

He said the company will still employ 102 workers after Thursday's cuts.

The Albany plant is a packaging division of Georgia-Pacific.

One of the laid off employees told us the plant recently lost a contract to produce boxes for Procter and Gamble.
