ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A court appearance Thursday morning for the Lee County man charged with kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and child.

23-year-old Shane Fletcher was led into the courtroom at the Dougherty County Jail with his head still bandaged.

Police say he was hit in the head with a hammer by the woman he's charged with kidnapping, 21 year old Quintabitha Mitchell.

Fletcher was arrested yesterday at the Camilla Inn where police say he held his Mitchell and their 1-year-old son captive after carjacking her Ford Taurus on the Liberty Bypass Wednesday morning. The mother and child are OK. He faces several additional charges including Vehicular Hijacking and Aggravated Assault.He remains in jail without bond.
