ADEL, GA (WALB) - Cook High has a new head football coach.
The Cook County Board of Education approved the hiring of Mac Thompson as the Hornets new head football coach.
Thompson has been the head coach at Calera High School near Birmingham for the past three years.
He led Calera to a region title in 2008 and the state semifinals in 2007.
Before that, Thompson was an assistant coach at Hoover High.
Mac Thompson takes over for Jim Scroggins who retired in December.
Scroggins led the Hornets to the AA semifinals in 2007 and the second round of the state playoffs last year.
