ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A celebration for 90 years of doing the most good in the Albany area came to a close. The Salvation Army closed its weekend of celebration with a special worship service Sunday morning.

Members of the Salvation Army, as well as, people from the community participated in fellowship. The Salvation Army State Commander of Georgia was even in town to speak about their importance during these tough economic times.

"It's a great thing that the army is here to help people who are going to need it. We are seeing all over the state and probably all over the country that last year's donors are this year's recipients. And it's important more than any other time before that the Salvation Army be in place," said State Commander of Georgia, William Mockabee.

The Salvation Army began serving the Albany community February 2nd, 1919.
