ALBANY, GA (WALB) - It was a race for the finish line at the Marine Corp Logistics Base. 90 runners of all ages laced up their tennis shoes to participate in the annual half-marathon and 5-K run Saturday morning.

Participants run several miles around the lake and throughout the base. Staff Sergeant Kristine Streng says being a Marine made it very easy to prepare for the run.

"Well, as a Marine you are always running. You are running for work. You are running for physical fitness. You are running for everything. And this is just an opportunity to run for fun," said Streng.

"There's not many opportunities where you can run and be a part of the community. So this is a good chance for me to be able to do something that I like." Top honors were given to the top two men and women in both the half marathon and 5-K run.
