ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Salvation Army wants you to help them celebrate their 90th year of service in Albany.   The Salvation Army began it's work in Albany February 2nd, 1919.

The Christian Service Organization will celebrate will several events this weekend. They held a 90¢ sale at their family store Friday.

Saturday morning from 10 to 1,  they'll host a Winterfest with games, food, and fun for the family. Sunday starting at 11, there will be a worship celebration and lunch to remember the first 90-years in Albany.

"The Salvation Army has been here through social problems, through fiscal problems, through some major disasters and has always stood by the community of Albany. And we are still prepared to stay here and serve people as much as we can," Captain Douglas McClure.

Captain McClure says donations to the Salvation Army are down about 15% because of the tough economic times, but they continue their service.
