ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Additional furloughs for state employees are likely on the way. Some state agencies already require employees to take one day a month off without pay.
In order to balance the budget and fund property tax grants promised to homeowners, more may be necessary. The Department of Transportation and the University system so far haven't furloughed employees, but it is a possibility.
Krista Robitz said, "Darton will simply wait until the University system gives us the directives and we'll do what the chancellor advices us to do." The university system has more than 40,000 employees.
