ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The parent company of the Blakely plant at the center of the nationwide Salmonella outbreak has been banned from federal business.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said it's suspending Peanut Corporation of America from participating in federal government contracts or subcontracts for a year.

In Albany Federal Court, Kellogg's was added as a defendant in the lawsuit against Peanut Corporation of America filed by a Vermont child's family after the seven year old was sickened by peanut butter crackers made by Kellogg's.
