(Frankfort, Kentucky-AP) -- Kentucky State held off a furious Albany State rally in the final minute to win 30-to-27 today. Kentucky State's Timothy Vaughn and Brandon Fairley both scored on fumble returns in the third quarter.
The Thorobreds extended their lead 30-to-13 on a four-yard run by Ira Barry with six minutes left. Then the Rams charged forth as Kerenski McGhee ran 18 yards with one minute left. Hosea Harris hit Edward Harper for an 18-yard TD with 40 seconds left.
Albany State's other scoring came on a 25-yard run by Warin Major in the first quarter and a 2-yard run by Kawaskee Teemer at the end of the first half.
