Americus, GA (WALB) - Georgia Southwestern was swept by Armstrong Atlantic Wednesday night. The men lost 61-52, while the women lost 76-71.

Anthony Sargent led the GSW men with 16 points in the loss. Nadirah Gardner led the Lady Hurricanes with 19 points.

The only number that fans will remember from this game however is 42.

GSW retired the number of Hurricane great Willy Mathis Wednesday.

Mathis lost a battle to cancer in November of 2007 one month after he was inducted into GSW's hall of fame.

All proceeds from Wednesday's game were donated to Madeline's mission.

Mathis' first granddaughter Madeline Anne died from meningitis when she was only seven months old.

The mission's goal is to display the importance of organ donation.

Mathis is the first player in GSW history to ever have their jersey retired.
