VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Florida State heads into national signing day with some momentum.
The Seminoles picked up a commitment from Lowndes defensive back Greg Reid Tuesday night.
Reid is the player of the year in the state of Georgia.
He committed to Florida on the day after signing day in 2008.
He backed off that commitment one month ago and that set off a frenzy with a number of schools all wanting a chance to lure the versatile Reid to their campus.
Reid made his decision in front of a packed house at Austin's Steakhouse in Valdosta.
Reid had his list down to five schools when the night began. He elmiminated the schools one by one in the following order; Auburn, Miami, and Alabama.
The final two came down to Florida State and Georgia.
With a smile on his face Reid took a Florida State hat and placed it proudly on his head.
Reid said the decision to head to Tallahasse came down to playing time and being close to home.
"I hope any coaches from Georgia and Alabama aren't mad at me. Like I said all five of the schools were very good. I had to make the best decision for me" said Reid.
Reid has already picked out his roommate at Florida State, Viking teammate Gerald Demps who is also committed to Florida State.
