Brooks County, GA (WALB) - After losing a classmates in a car crash Friday night, students at Brooks County High School are receiving support from the faculty.  16-year-old Jonathan Teal was killed in a wreck on Georgia Highway 133.

On Monday, guidance counselors spoke with students in each of Teal's classes.  Counselors and the principal made themselves available to anyone who needs help coping with the loss.

"I think most of our students really are resilient," says Principal Howard Akers.  "They had an opportunity at the viewing and at the funeral yesterday to kind of bond with each other and get over this in whatever way is necessary for them."

Students and teachers were permitted to leave school for Jonathan's funeral Monday.  Teachers say several of his close friends are not yet ready to return to class.
