ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Hundreds of Georgia Power linemen arrived in Kentucky to start helping restore power in areas hit by the severe winter storm.

Twenty-seven Georgia Power linemen from Albany, Valdosta, Bainbridge, Tifton, and Waycross left for Louisville Kentucky Wednesday, they arrived today and will be deployed from there.

Ice from the severe winter storm has torn down tree limbs and power lines across much of Kentucky and the Midwest.

In all, Georgia Power sent 265 linemen from across the state to Kentucky to help with restore power.

There are an estimated 380,000 homes without power in that region.
