ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Museum of Art won't move downtown.

It will stay at its current location next to Darton College.

The Board of Trustees voted to discontinue plans to relocate downtown.

They initially planned to renovate the old Mule Barn, then considered buying and building on the Albany Herald parking lot at the corner of Pine and Washington.

But they decided spending big money on a new facility isn't smart in the current economic climate.

Instead, they'll work to expand programs at their current location and may reconsider a move in a few years.
