Albany -- Economic leaders want to know if consolidating Albany and Dougherty County governments would be good business.

The Albany and Dougherty County Economic Development Commission voted unanimously to recommend a study of consolidating the two government bodies.

Chamber of Commerce Chairman Mark Davis said "We do think it's important enough to the continued success of economic development and moving Albany and Dougherty County forward, that a study at least be done to see where the pitfalls are and whether there are advantages or disadvantages."

The Economic Development Commission will send a representative to Tuesday's City Commission meeting to recommend the consolidation study.
