LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) - A new middle school is preparing to open its doors in Lowndes County.  Pine Grove Middle School will open next August.

The school was added to reduce crowding issues at Hahira and Lowndes Middle Schools.  Pine Grove will begin with about 600 students, and eventually house over 800.

Keeping with Titletown tradition, the school will provide excellent athletic programs.  "The same sports programs will exist at Pine Grove as they do at the other schools," assures the school's principal, Sol Summerlin.

The ribbon cutting ceremony for Pine Grove Middle School will take place in July.  In 2010, Lowndes County will continue their expansion by opening Pine Grove Elementary.
