VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -
Valdosta State coach Greg Guilliams stunned the Gulf South Conference in leading the Blazers to the east division championship in his first season last year.
The Blazers are not going to sneak up on anyone this year.
Valdosta State is the preseason pick of the division coaches to win the east division again this spring.
In fact all six coaches in the east voted VSU to win the division.
Delta State has been picked to win the west and is the pick of GSC coaches to win the conference title.
Coach Guilliams could not vote for his own team.
Pitcher Chase Blackwoood, shortstop Jon Koenigsfeld and catcher Chase Blackwood named to the preseason all east division team.
Pitchers Matt Costello and Ross Gusky and infielder Bryan Mason are tabbed as newcomers to watch for the Blazer team this spring.
Valdosta State baseball team opens the season Sunday with a doubleheader at Francis Marion.
The home opener is February seventh.
