ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Some senior citizens could get a check for $300 as part of President Obama's stimulus package. Seniors receiving Social Security would get a bonus payment of $300. So would veterans.

SOWEGA Council on Aging Director Kay Hind says she always supports a plan that would benefit seniors, but isn't so sure it would help the overall economic picture. She said, "Well, I don't ever want to say that they can't use the extra money, I'm just not that familiar with how much it helps the overall economy of the nation."

In the proposal, there's also $87 Billion to help states pay for the Medicaid health care program for the poor and disabled.
