ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Baseball and softball seasons are just around the corner for Valdosta State and Sunday fans got a chance to meet the team in person.
VSU turned Billy Grant field into a kid's paradise for the 2nd annual Blazer Blast.
Kids and their families were treated to free baseball and softball clinics, free hot dogs and hamburgers, face painting and inflatable bounce houses.
For the Blazers they say the event was just as exciting for them as it was for the kids.
"It's great I really enjoy it, I like seeing them out here enjoying the game that I love to play and it looks like at a young age they're starting to enjoy it as well and its real good" said junior pitcher Ross Gusky.
The Valdosta State baseball team opens the season Sunday at Francis Marion in South Carolina. The team opens up at home on Tuesday Febuary 3rd with a double header against Barry beginning at 1:00.
The Valdosta State Softball team also opens the season on Sunday. The Lady Blazers will play host to Thomas first pitch at 2:00
