EARLY COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Dozens of celebrities from sports, hollywood, and music and their guests enjoyed a day of quail hunting South Georgia style as the first day of the 23rd Annual Quail Unlimited Celebrity Hunt got underway.
Former Washington Redskins great defensive lineman Dave Butz one of the celebrities hunting at the Quail Country Plantation in Early County.
This event is Quail Unlimited's biggest fundraiser. They use the money to develop and preserve the quail habitat. And the hunters and landowners say they can see the programs are working.
Butz said "As more people from the field come back with more statistical data, it has improved the quail habitat. As well as other animals. A lot of your song birds, your deer, turkey, they also benefit."
Quail Unlmited President Rocky Evans said "It's our goal and our mission to see to it that we keep up the interest, the concern, and the movement for quail conservation."
The Quail Unlimited celebrity hunters will return to the plantations for a second day of hunting Saturday.
