VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Two members of the Lowndes High Vikings team are headed to two of the top junior college programs.

Pitcher Hayden Martin on the left has signed with Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Phenix City, Alabama.

Shortstop Adam Rigoni on the right is headed to Tallahassee Community College.

Martin was 2-2 last season but Lowndes head coach Danny Redshaw says he pitched well for the Vikings summer team.

Rigoni batted over 300 last year and his speed produced 27 runs and 16 stolen bases.

Both players say they are excited about the chance to continue their baseball careers at the college level next year.

TCC signee Adam Rigoni said.  "it has always been my dream to play college baseball. I am real thankful for it."

CVCC signee Hayden Martin said. "To me it is a honor to be able to go play college ball. I just wish everybody had the chance."

In other Lowndes High baseball news, Viking coach Joe Mederos was named assistant coach of the year by the Georgia Dugout Club.
