Albany- There were no faces filled with sadness or despair at Eric and Rhonda Dowdell's wedding ceremony at Phoebe Putney Hospital Saturday. There were faces of hope and tears of joy, especially in the face of Eric Dowdell who has been battling cancer since last year.

Dowdell says, "Cancer isn't a joke. I've been battling cancer for a long while." Despite his pain, Dowdell's final wish was to marry the love of his life, Rhonda. She says, "I'm crazy about him. I'm hoping this will pull him through. A miracle has to happen."

.Eric's brother, James Melton, and his mother, Barbara Melton, say Eric is a living miracle, and they have gained so much inspiration from. James Melton says, "He touched my life just by seeing him pull through his sickness and get on top of things." His mother adds, "He didn't want to live like that and die like that. I'm glad for him. I thank God for him.

Nurse, Wanda Lyle, has taken care of Eric for the last three weeks, and she says she's never met anyone like him. Lyle says, "He is a good person and he believes in God, and he's going to get out of the hospital.

Eric says he hopes he will get out the hospital and walk into the arms of the woman he calls his angel.
