ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Darton College softball coach David Dews is excited about the 2009 season that starts three weeks from today.
Dews and his assistant Sam White are excited about their second recruiting class.Darton signing seven players to the Lady Cavs program.
Leading the way is Lee County high pitcher Brittny Dennison.
Her battery mate is going to be Berrien High catcher Kellie Moore.
Darton also signing outfielder Sadee Scarborough and infielder Dionne Bishop from Jared Dickey's Lowndes High softball program.
Rounding out the class are pitcher Brittany Lundgren from Kennesaw, infielder Andrew Cocco from South Forsyth and outfielders Monique Wooten from Jones County and Apalachee High's Ashley Goley.
A stellar class and coach Dews is very happy he was able to keep the local talent local.David Dews said "Instead of going out and spread out all over the state or into Florida, Alabama or whatever they may have previously have gone. They want to stay here at Darton and represent Albany and represent the state of Georgia."
Darton softball team opens the season at home on February 5th against Andrew College.
