ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Preston woman was carjacked in the Albany Mall parking lot by a man with a gun.

About one Monday afternoon, 29 year old January Wright was kidnapped outside the Mall when she was reporting to work at one of the stores.

A man with a gun forced her back in her 2005 Ford Tauras, got into the passenger seat, and forced her to drive to East Albany. The gunman released her in the 12-hundred block of Mulberry Avenue and drove off with her car. Wright was not injured, but Police and co-workers say she was badly shaken.

Albany Police Media Manager Phyllis Banks Whitley said "Having someone just walk up on your while you are getting out of your car, catching you off guard. Asking you to drive around, and taking your car. Maybe not physically injured, but emotionally, probably so."

Wrights' car was abandoned at Heath Park on Maple Street. The gunman is white, bald, in his late 20's, about six feet tall and 175 pounds, with a piercing in his bottom lip.
