ALBANY, GA (WALB) - It may be a sign of just how desperate some are, thieves burglarized two Goodwill donation boxes overnight.

The suspect targeted boxes at Lowes and the one in the Winn Dixie plaza.

The suspect climbed through the donation chute and broke the door from the inside.

Goodwill officials say it's hard to know what all they took, but some of the items included cell phones used to communicate with drivers, toys, and clothing they sell at the thrift store.

"Not only do they help drive our career center, but they also fund the training program the career center uses to put people who are less fortunate back to work, or that need training skills that's how we fund that program," said Goodwill Production Manager Doris Revill.

The donation sites have been secured with new locks to prevent future break-ins.
