Dougherty County - In Dougherty County, the cotton crop is in fair to good condition. So far, twenty percent of cotton has been harvested. Eighty-five percent of bulbs are open.

Dougherty County Extension agents say this year's cotton crop is not excellent, but not bad either. Extension agent, Dr. Lenny Wells, explains, "Due to dry weather a lot of bulbs opening up early and then when rains came during September, caused bulbs to rot."

Dougherty County has 11,000 acres of cotton fields.
